General - Monsters of the Jungle

BOZ

Creature Cataloguer
i was looking to get a list together of jungle monsters that haven't yet officially been converted to 3.5 D&D. in the Creature Catalog, we have a few such as the phanaton, baku, dakon, and vegepygmy.

any campaign world will do: Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Mystara, Al Qadim, Kara-Tur, even Planescape when appropriate.

got any more ideas? :)

I just ran my gamers through a jungle in the world of Kalmar Setting called the Reelio Jungle. They are stark raving terrified of the place now. I infested it with Moss Trolls (out of Kenzerco's Dangerous Denizens) and pygmy cannibals called Kitsuane. I made the Moss Trolls the top of the food chain and nocturnal, while the cannibals ruled by day. The party ended up loosing two members to the Trolls and one to the cannibals (out of a six member party... this was definite overkill on my part but the desired effect was created). I also plagued them with disease and vermin from Wildscape, a book published by Fantasy Flight Games. Heatstroke was a problem until the Cleric started memorizing 6 Endure Elements a day by using second level slots for them.

The Kitsuane have access to a bizarre technology of quartz crystal weapons that behave like ghost touch weapons vs. armor (no magical properties just unbelievably sharp) and break 50% of the times they are used due to their incredible hardness and brittle nature. I added that to avoid arming all the PC's with permanent ghost touch weaponry. The Pygmy's had a +10 hide skill in the jungle and moved unimpeded by the underbrush. The PC's are level 3-4, and did manage to accomplish their mission, but it was bloody and brutal.

I hitmy goal of frightening them, and provided an adventure they will talk about for a long time I hope. :D
