General video game discussion

In my case its a case of my not liking accumulating more backlog. I know this is a piker compared to some, but I've got something like ten games that I've not done more than go "That looks cool! I have to get to that."
I'm waiting till the year's end to get BG3. Hoping for a wintersale, but if December 31st arrives, I'll bite. Next year it'll be more expensive because of new taxes.

Otherwise, I'm done buying games for a while.(Except for the ocassional indie)

That was more or less what happened with most of the ones I acquired recently. I had them on my wishlist, but I just couldn't justify buying them with my backlog. And then their prices dropped (in at least one case, to a quarter of its normal value, one a game of at least moderate price), and, well, here I am.

Yeah, I didn't buy anything for Black Friday (or Cyber Monday) either. There are a few games I've got my eye on, but I'm content to wait until after the new year. I've got Silksong, I've got Stardew Valley, I've got Avowed and Veilguard and Blue Prince...I'll be juuuuust fine.

I didn't buy anything during the Cyber Monday sale, mainly because I bought Call of Duty: WW2 on sale a few weeks ago and still haven't even started it. (Still working on my latest SDV playthrough.)

EDIT: Just fired up CoD: WW2. Made it through D-Day somehow. I didn't see a tutorial, so I kind of just had to figure it out as I went along. Will have to replay it to get the mementos and perform the heroic act that I missed. It's certainly a lot more intense (and more difficult) than MoH:AA!

I was inspired to start a new SDV playthrough after going to the live concert with my wife in October.

I'd like to get DA: Veilguard at some point. I've read all the complaints and criticisms, but I'm more interested in the story and the lore drops than the gameplay or the visuals. Will wait for it to be on sale. (I buy most games years after they come out. I think the only game I bought new recently was Jedi: Survivor.)

OK I'm enjoying CoD: WW2 overall, but I really don't like that I can't manually save. Wanted to get the no damage achievement on D-Day, but having to restart from the cut scene at the beginning every time is a pain in the butt. Now I'm on the "stop the train" mission, and I'm having trouble not alerting the guards. Was able to restart from a decent checkpoint at first, but now it's auto-saved at a point after I've alerted the guards, so now I have to start over from the beginning of the mission again! Hella frustrating (especially since there's no way to skip the opening mission cut scenes)!
