In my usual quest to play and complete two JRPGs a year, I’ve stalled on Tales of Graces f (Switch) at almost exactly the same place installed on PS2 a decade ago.

I have played, enjoyed, and completed Onimusha Tactics on GBA. I’ve nearly completed Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (also on GBA) but Riku IV keeps kicking my arse, he’s such a cheap boss.

Am now playing LiEat (Switch) for a cosy break.

I think Veilguard might have wrecked something in my PC. It’s almost six years old, and I think the strain of running the game was too much for something.

My wife used the computer just fine this morning, and then it sat in sleep mode for most of the day. Now, it is a very hot day today, and the computer is up in our loft, which is the hottest part of the house …

But after work, I woke the computer up, browsed the internet for a bit, then loaded Veilguard.

Only played for a few minutes before the computer just turned itself off. Haven’t been able to get it back up into Windows for more than a few minutes before it turns off again. The CPU is rapidly overheating, reaching 92C before it shuts down.

I’ve tried cleaning out all the dust and applying fresh thermal paste to no avail.

It seems likely that either the CPU itself, the CPU cooler, or the power supply has gone bad.

I’ll have to take it into the shop tomorrow for diagnostics. Hopefully it will be an easy fix. I don’t have the spare cash for a brand new PC right now.

I once killed a PC with Diablo 3. Always a pity.

I'm enjoying Witcher 3 quite a bit but boy does Geralt control really clunkily. Navigating tight areas in particular does not feel good in the slightest

Got a new CPU cooler system professionally installed. Veilguard is STILL stuttering. Worse than before, in fact. Google's AI mode has been very helpful in guiding me through the troubleshooting process, but we've tried just about everything to no avail. I've updated the BIOS, updated various drivers, turned various bits and bobs off. Downloaded and run LatencyMon, MSI Afterburner, etc.

It stutters even when I turn the graphics down. But it was working fine on the first day I got it, and it was working fine the day before the cooling system crashed, so I know this computer CAN run it. Sigh ...

I don't think so. I think this is a very specific issue with this game. There's some sort of conflict occurring at the software / driver level, and I've yet to figure out what it is. All the research I've done has confirmed that my system should be able to run this game with no problems.

Any reactions from the Game Awards last night?

I definitely need to finally play Expedition 33.

I am super excited for Divinity, but I imagine it will be a few years. Similarly I am curious about the Fate of the Old Republic, but if the announcememnt trailer just dropped I will be retired by the time it releases. Exodus continues to feel like a Mass Effect knock off to me, but I will certainly give it a try if it comes out and gets good reviews.

I zoomed through most of it to try and get to bed at a reasonable time, so I might have missed it -- was there anything new about Wolverine?

Larian's next game is Divinity. Very cool cinematic trailer but way too early to know more.
New Old Republic game announced.
Diablo 4 gets a new DLC.
