General video game discussion

I'm getting into the endgame in my current BG3 playthrough, but the game is starting to feel a little flaky, conversations not launching correctly and characters triggering the same conversation twice over. There's so much to explore in the Lower City, but at the same time I feel like I should rush the main plotlines before it falls over entirely.

More you play more you relize how weak act 3 is. Most of the "main quests" are hakf and hour to an hour long.

I don’t mind act 3 at all - I think the writing and quests hold up pretty well, individually at least. But the city feels like a second hub area, and they really needed a proper Act 4 to cap things off satisfactorily. Or possibly switching Acts 2 and 3 - the former feels much more climactic.

The thing that gets to me about act 3 is just how densely packed everything is. It makes sense, it's a city, but it feels like I can't go ten feet without encountering something else plot-relevant that I should poke into. It makes it very hard to stay on-task with anything. Heck, even in Rivington I've found places and people this time that I never saw on previous playthroughs.

Most of ots irrelevant. Thrres a lot of inspiration and influence to farm though.

Got Ghost of Yotei for Christmas, and I've been binging on that for the past week. It is very very good and extremely my thing. Also Erika Ishii is very very good in it.

The more I've done Act 3, the more it's impressed me with just how many little nooks and crannies it has hidden. It's much more open-ended than Act 2, and it probably needed another polish pass to really add more of the interactiveness the game is known for (it definitely has the most visible seams, as opposed to the perfect polish of Act 1).

But considering how many fantastic set pieces it has (the Orin-staged murders throughout the City, the Hag questlines, the entire House of Hope, all of the Stone Lord arc), I'm more than willing to overlook the remaining proud nails.

Yeah, just took many pieces to juggle for it all to be polished. In my current playthrough I decided to take out the foundry first before going after Gortash, and despite that I still got a message from the Elder Brain afterwards congratulating me on taking him down and bragging that it had taken out the foundry and eliminated all witnesses as a favour to me.
