General video game discussion

Is there much to recommend from Starfield? I've not really heard much positive about it, even from fans of other works from the Todd factory

I played a heavily-modded version of it I enjoyed.

One of the mods let me travel between planets in a star system, and put the ship on autopilot. One of the new official updates will introduce similar features, with the added bonus of allowing your ship to be intercepted while on autopilot. Today’s deep dive showed a PC running to the pilot seat with a klaxon blaring in the background. I’m excited for that.

Other mods I installed improved the vanilla POI system which is a part of the game I think is rightly criticized. This new update will improve that too.

The ease of modding the game is a plus, IMO. Xbox and PC users can mod. Probably PS5 too in April. Don’t think PS5 users can. And not all the Creations are paid. Many are free.

As for the writing, it can get silly like in Elder Scrolls, but has interesting parts…like Elder Scrolls.

Skyrim and Fallout 4 have Creation Club access on PS5; one would hope they would bring that over for Starfield when they port it formally to the system. In any case PS5 is the only way I'm going to ultimately be able to play it if I do.

I do feel like playing any Bethesda game anywhere close to launch is a bit of a trap, though. Enhanced/Complete editions have always added a lot of great features that I now consider essential to those games.

Thanks for the info. I corrected my post.

I hope PS5 users can get Watchtower. It adds the ability to manage a fleet of ships. There’s a DLC-sized story too.

so, Starfield is finally getting a new update and a second expansion along with coming to playstation on the 7th. The new expansion that was teased last year is "Tarren Armada", a new facation shows up and wants to rule the settled systems. There's also some other new goodies coming. In system cruising, an asteroid mansion, new robot buddy and even more.

Nice, I've been trying to think of a reason to start up starfield again, this might get me back into it.

i'll note that sony has limits on creations for fallout and skyrim,i don't know if that same policy will extend to starfield

Yeah I know paid Creations aren't allowed on the PS5 Creation Club, only free

According to this clip from Kinda Funny Games (NSFW-ish language), the Kinggath team behind Watchtower said all the Creations should work on PS5 if the creators do something (not sure what) on their end. I know this is not an official announcement, so treat it accordingly.
