While I'm a fan of free, for online-only/download tools I generally prefer to pay 5-10 dollars for a product. Even if a particular tool would save me HOURS and HOURS of time, I can only afford so much in my gaming budget (broke grad student) so beyond 10-12 bucks the ease-of-purchase declines sharply.
Like above, I'd rather have a selection of stand-alone products priced 6-12 dollars than have ONE product that "does it all" for 30-40 dollars. I.E. Instead of a "Grim Tales Generators" product with creatures, PCs, cybernetics, magic, etc for 30, I'd much rather buy a Creatures Generator at 6 and a PC generator at 6, as those are the things I need. I just can't pencil in that 30 dollar product when I only need 2 aspects of it.
