Gestalt Character needs Prestige Class ideas

My friend is playing a Sorcerer Cleric in a gestalt campaign and we're just leveling to 5. Our DM would allow Mystic Thurge even though it shouldn't be allowed but I still think is a bad idea to take. Anyone have good ideas for a Prestige class for this build?

Really? Mystic Theurge is allowed in a gestalt game and you want to argue there's a better choice out there for a cleric/wizard?

Before I even open a single book to help you, I demand to know the rationality of your belief.

I never have used spell casters myself and every time I have attempted to gain an understanding of how mystic works I kept getting the wrong information. I finally understand what exactly it does now and if he wants to allow it then that's crazy.

A question now on my mind now is on if there are any feats that will grant an Arcane spell caster not to be hurt by armors arcane spell failure. If not what are the best options besides Mithral?

A lot of the feats out there for reducing arcane spell failure are unofficial. The official ones include Battle Caster (CArc), which only works for classes that may already cast spells in at least light armor, and the monstrous feat: Githyanki Battlecaster (MM4), which requires you become a githyanki. I'm not sure of any others

However, Book of Exhalted Deeds has a +1 armor enchantment called twilight which reduces ASF by 10%. So a Twilight Mithral Chainshirt would have a 0% Arcane Spell Failure.

Incantatrix. Dweomerkeeper. Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil. Beholder Mage. Taint Scholar.

Let's not dip our hands in cheese, shall we? Mystic Theurge with duel full caster is bad enough, exploiting poorly worded web enhancements and bogus methods of becoming a beholder would destroy the eternal soul of this innocent mind.

Gestalt rules specifically say not to allow dual progression prestige classes. If the DM allows it, at least make sure it takes up both sides of the gestalt. And yeah, that's weaker than just continuing as a Cleric/Sorc and he'd have to be a total sucker to go for that. But at least it's not stupidly overpowered.

Yeah, but not allowing dual progression of prestige classes is still makes mystic theurge stupidly overpowered. The rules say that the player may combine a prestige class with a regular class. So after taking Cleric/Wizard 3, the player would start taking Mystic Theurge/Wizard X. He'd cast not only as a full cleric, but as a full wizard + X.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I meant, if he's a Cleric 3 // Wizard 3 and wants to enter Mystic Theurge, at level 4, he would look like: Cleric 3 / MT 1 // Wizard 3 MT 1 (for lack of a better way to express it). He'd have CL 4 in both classes, the MT 1 on each side is the same class level, I just didn't know how to display it better.

I don't see where you're getting that, but at level 4, it would be CLR 4/WIZ 5 (CLR/WIZ 3, MT/WIZ 1). You're still able to gestalt wizard levels with a prestige class.
