Gestalt Support

I will be running a game in a few days with just two players, using the gestalt rules. I want to offer them an NPC to aid in combat, but I don't want any flashy abilities that might overshadow the PCs. So far I know we'll have a fighter/monk. I was thinking of making a knight/marshal as that will pretty much just soak up damage and make everyone else better at what they do. What do you (ENWorlders) think of this plan?

Thanks,
~Dave~

Suggestion: Marshal // Cleric. Stands in the middle and casts group-buff spells (bless, prayer), condition-removal spells (remove fear), or cure spells.

I had forgotten about buff spells. I was initially shying away fromn the cleric because when not healing, he'd have to use is spells to do cool things, but I could just as easily use those spells slots to further enhance the party, which would corelate nicely with the marshal mindset. I was wondering how to get healing in. Thanks!

I'd like to keep the HD of the knight as well as the ability to take on the damage dealt to others, though. If you were to alternate those three classes (knight, marshal, cleric) in a gestalt build, would you go straight cleric and alternate marshal and knight, go straight knight and alternate marshal and cleric, or go straight marshal and alternate cleric and knight?

You might want to ask the Fighter Monk to play something a bit different. It would be a weak gestalt.

For your guy, a knight/Marshal--CLeric sounds good. Go full cleric on oe side (cannot beat spellcasting in gestalt, and alternate Knight and Marshal on the other. I would start with a level of knight, and then marshal, knight for 2 more (to get bulwark of defense) and then start hitting the marshal levels quicker. Bulwark of defense lets you be the tank and block movement easily, while marshal buffs the party more.

For cha synergy & more spells available to buff/heal, I would suggest a favored soul. I would also drop the Knight, since the flavor of the class is not one of a support character.

Support for Gestalts

Darn I thought this thread was about material to support gestalts.

Is there any material out there that supports gestalts? As in, specifically dedicated to parties comprised of gestalt members.

What I'm most interested to see are the supposed super duper prestige classes mentioned in UA, where it was mentioned you could make insane prestige classes that counted as taking the standard two classes for a gestalt.

Oh and some gestalt feats would be nice.

Sorry to threadjack.

Marshal // Dragon Shaman - Aura effects like crazy, good HD, medium BAB, good saves, loads of class features, 6+Int Mod skill points.

Just drop the silly "Oh, I worship Dragons" thing and make him a supercommander type.
