Come on, guys. WotC is offering a relatively fun and flavorful little contest for their fans. Sure, I imagine they hope this will get some attention for the new CB, but this isn't a sign that they are 'desperate' or 'failing' or whatever. It's a cool opportunity for those who want to participate.

Man, some of the sheer cynicism and dismissiveness directed at WotC over what should be celebrated as a nice contest for their customers is downright depressing.

If you didn't have to pay for DDI access to play in the contest, I might agee.

However, I still believe the movie itself will be "full of fail".

Fine print does wonders for raising peoples cynicism levels. Any meals, taxes, transport, tips/gratuities, room charges or other expenses not specified herein are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Package winner. It is like the words "BRING MONEY!" are slapped in the fine print.

Don't forget A credit card is required for hotel check-in. So the winner is guaranteed to be ready to be slammed with the aforementioned fees, taxes etc. No leaving behind the cred-wrecker and taking some spare cash or travelers cheques for unexpected expenses.

It's funny, but I own the first movie, and not the second. Say what you will about plot, but the first movie had an honest-to-goodness budget and at least A and B-list actors. something lit's increasingly looking like the D&D franchise will never ever have again.

'Tis sad - this thread inspired me to go back and (try to) watch the first movie; the first time around I'd seen it, I fairly liked it. Unfortunately, couldn't even stand getting past about 20-30 minutes into it before the acting just got on my nerves and I had to shut it off.

Sadly, the first movie has not held up well at all - perhaps LotR has just spoiled me that much. Not even the dwarf character seemed all that funny anymore. I have seen (and own the second), but I don't think I can even bear to put it in and watch it.

So, you have to buy your own food and pay taxes. If I'm not mistaken, they said they would put you up in a hotel of their choice, but hey-is it so bad you have to pay for room service and maybe rent a car?

*shrugs*

As for check-in, thats because if you dont and you trash the room like a rockstar, there's no way to make you cover it. Sometimes though, they will let you make a big deposit fee.
