Getting a book you write published?

I also sent her email saying she could just do it herself as a PDF. I also offered her my meager services as "publisher". I think the most important quality about having a publisher is another reputation to protect. I would not put my imprint on anyone's book unless I stood behind it, did my own editing pass on the material, and thought it could help us both.

I know that real publishers like to own the works they print, but I don't see the need for that. All material Throwing Dice Games has published has been copyrighted by its authors. The Section 15 notice reads "title, Copyright 2002 by authors' names. Published by Throwing Dice Games." What I like about it is that it is the reverse of most copyright notices: "title, Copyright 200 by publisher's name. Authors: name, name, name." But then, I'm also one of those constitutional purists who feel that copyrights should not last longer than 20-30 years.

I also use 100% OGC in my works because they tend to be rules heavy. I cannot imagine that the flavor parts are worth anything without the surrounding OGC. But if I were to publish a setting, I certainly wouldn't require 100% OGC. In a setting, the flavor parts should be able to stand on their own with the OGC.

In any case, good luck to everyone putting out PDFs.
