Getting stains out of a battlemat

Non Acetone nail polish remover maybe, I use a Terry Whites chemist brand (australia) for plastic miniatures and paint and its perfect.... the problem with removing stains is that you have two colour agents, each has a chemical base, and that chemical base is disturbed and broken apart by a corresponding chemical. You may be able to call the pen manufacturer and find out the basic "ingredients" to their red marker... then find a university college lab and ask them what breaks apart that red compound.

option Ê would be to match the colour of the mat with a marker, and colour it in...

Anybody got any tips for getting sharpie out of a Battlemat?

Two mats, both have permanent 'features.' :\

Cover the marks you want to remove with an ink you are already certain is eraseable. Let it sit for a few minutes. Wipe away.

Really, it is that simple. Nothiing special needed.

No one's mentioned it yet - just another idea, but hairspray will take ink stains off of leather. I guess if I got desperate I might try it on a battlemap.

Am I going to be the only sick one that, upon reading the title of this thread, thought "Man, I love D&D too, but don't you think that's a little excessive?"

about the goofing off yeah... exactly what I was thinking. But then I allowed for multi national brand differences and just being reserved.... but yeah man, I dont know what Reis is eating but he should see a doctor...

I've previously used paint thinner to get out permenant marker. But it might not be that good for gridlines...

My advice is to find a large sheet of clear plexiglass and use a T-square and razor to score a 1" grid on it. That's what I did and it's worked better than any commercial battlemat I've seen.
