Ghost Elves

Do we really need any more subraces?

Not really. On the other hand, I quite liked this subrace, and they actually found their way into my homebrew...

I usually consider myself pretty well versed in D&D lore -- I've been playing since the red box Basic set in the early eighties.

That said, I just realized that since I don't subscribe to Dragon there are a lot of things I miss out on. Rockstar elves, is that the new race the previous poster mentioned? ;) And ghost elves are new to me as well. Whetherthat is for good or for worse, well, that I haven't made up my mind about yet.

Ironically, ghost elves are among the few subraces that have an honest reason to be different, something more than just "Oh, well, we've been living in slightly thicker forests for quite some time now . . ."

I rarely use subraces of any race, and I'm actually very "humanocentric" in my setting philosophy. I only allow other races to appease my players. But the elven "flavor of the month" never appealed to me much, either. I just needed a somewhat "ethereal" that wasn't too "out there" race for an upcoming game in my homebrew.

Yeah, the ghost elves are really cool - they're the only race of elves that I use in my homebrew now. Elves in my game all died out and only their echoes remain in the forgotten places of the world. Ghost elves work perfectly for that - saved me having to stat them up myself :).

I put a sticky-note on the Ghost Elf page the first time I read it. As far as Elven subraces go, they are one of the best Dragon ever brought out. Any subraces, really. I dig them Ghost Elves.

Rockseer elves were a race of subterranean elves that appeared in the 2nd ed Night Below boxed set campaign. Basically, they were the descendants of elves that had fled during the wars between normal elves and those that would eventually be drow. They consider themselves abandoned by the gods, but have developed serious powers over elemental Earth.
