Giants: Whose side are they on?

Giants are the original Ghet (the progenitors of all evil humanoids) and fought against the Sidhe after the first war between Heaven and Hell. They are probably a shadow of their former selves just like the Sidhe.

what is the ghet and sidhe? I looked them up in the glossary and it didn't say anything regarding these..they were on the side of hell?

Doesnt anyone read the texts :)

Giants and Giant-Kin = Ghets (Fire/Earth/Law)

Fey and Elves = Sidhe (Water/Air/Chaos)

http://www.d20reviews.com/Daemonforge/timelinedraft.htm

excerpt:

-19,000 to -15,000 - Ascension of the Maiden of Flowers and the Sun King. The Ghaele, using songs of beauty and life, form the Sidhe (the Fey) from tears and breath. From this, the ancient True Elves are born. The Ghet (the Giant-kin) are formed from stone and flame by the fiends who remain. The progeny of the Elemental Princes of Flame and Stone are born. These creatures are named the Dhur (the Dwarves) and they become subjugated by the Fiends. The Dwarves build kingdoms in the ashen plains and burning mountains.

but i did look them up technically :) . Can you add those into the glossary?

so the giants, like orcs, are basically 'free agents' as far as who's side they are on. They can be on either 'good' or 'evil' correct?

I would say they lean strongly towards evil (at least originally). Over the millenia, their natural tendencies were probably restrained by the influence of the other "good" peoples. Perhaps they are more influenced by their baser needs than the other peoples.

Giants haven't been mentioned very much so far, and I would prefer to have them as not inhabiting the Kessel - more a servitor race of the fiends.

The orcs who came to the Kessel and Imperialius's Hobgoblin race would be the exceptions to the rule, having overcome to some degree their fiendish origins.

Just my Canadian two cents.

I'll add them to the glossary later today after its been discussed a bit more.

so giants are more of a fiendish ally then.

My thoughts were to have a giant nation (LE) with a heirachy much like the G modules in 1E. You got the evil giants with the bigger hit dice leading the masses with a government much like the greeks or romans...

questions, comments, concerns..

I don't know if the Fiends would allow a nation, that is not fiendish to exist beyond the Last Haven. Would they not have re-established control over all evil humanoid groups in the time since they came?

Why wouldn't they? Overall domination of the entire kessel is the main goal, if they have puppet nations, as they do with humans, that would do their dirty work. Seeing as the fiendlords can waltz over them at anytime why not have another antagonist against the patrons hammer away at the patrons while the fiends work on their own tasks..perhaps there is a fiendish giant lord?
