Howdy All!!

Are you interested in getting a free copy of the HARP pdf? If so, then read on!

Considering that D&D is the largest game system on the market, it is prudent that the company of another game system make comparisons against the largest system.

Well, that is what ICE is planning on doing, sort of. What we are planning on doing is to take D&D characters, and create HARP versions of those characters, and then put them up on ICE's website where folks can compare and contrast them.

What ICE needs, however, is the D&D characters that we can use for making the HARP versions. That is where you folks come in....

We want YOUR characters. The ones you play in your regular games.

If you are interested, just following the directions listed below.

1) Create a Word document that contains your character, along with a small write-up of the character. The write up should be approximately 500 words and give an overview of the character, his background and his abilities.

2) Send that file to PCdeal 'at' ironcrown 'dot' com

3) If we create a HARP version of your character and use it, then you will receive a free copy of the pdf version of HARP (you may request a different PDF from the HARP line if you already have HARP).

That is all there is too it. You send us your character and if it is selected, you get a free copy of the HARP PDF.

Why can't i just send you a scanned pdf of my character sheet? Too many Mbytes for your inbox? (usually around 1.6 Meg, unzipped)

Because a Word doc with less than 550 words is about 100k at most if you don't do to many fancy things, like graphics, etc.

When you attach a file to an e-mail, the size of the message goes up about 1.5 times the size of the attachment for "overhead."

So your 1.6MB file just becames a ~2.5MB e-mail whereas a 100k file is ~150k for an e-mail message. A LOT smaller. If they get a lot of responses, they sure as heck don't want them all as big as 2.5megs. :)

Well it is more important to me to save my time not their bytes, so if it IS a problem they don't wan't I won't be sending them anything. I'm not rewriting something I already have.

just remembered another reason for having it Word rather than a PDF. It makes it easier to post as html on the website. The web pages would have the d20 character right beside the HARP version. Thus no flipping between two different things/pages in order to compare.

1) Nobody's asking you to do anything you don't want to do. If you want to have your items, possibly, published then you have to suck it up and re-type. If you don't care, then don't.

2) If you have the ability to scan, do you have the ability to OCR? That would cut down on a LOT of time retyping stuff if you were considering sending it in.

3) When you use Acrobat, do you use the Reduce File Size option under the File menu? That can reduce the size of PDF files by as much as 50% or more.

Rasyr, is www.harphq.com having problems? I'm trying to access it from work and it keeps timing out. It may just be the connection here. I can always try from home. I've never heard of HARP before so I'm trying to see what it's all about before I decide whether or not to send in characters. :)

What resources are available for use with the character?

1. Core books only (PHB, DMG, MM)
2. Other WoTC products (Complete Warrior/Arcane/Divine, Savage Species, FRCS, Psionics Handbook etc)
3. Third party D&D sourcebooks (Relics & Rituals, Quintessential X and so on).
4. Other D20 (Conan, Arcana Unearthed, Everquest)

:)

If the character contains something outside the core rules, then you need to at least describe it in the accompanying description. Thus, I will know what it does, and we can try to simulate it in the HARP version of the character.

Rasyr I have HARP (1 and 2 actually) -- C.O.M. and Martial Law -- do you want me to include both versions D&D and Harp?
