Giving Intelligent Items Class Levels

I had an idea for a NPC that would be a Intelligent Lantern (built using the intelligent weapon/sword rules) and then thought about taking it to the next step and actually giving it a few levels of bard or perhaps even rouge.

While it is obvious that it could not cast spells or use weapons it could use the skill points and could be a teacher/guide of sorts.

Any ideas or thoughts on how to make this work to its utmost advantage?

An Intelligent Lantern with levels in rouge would be best as a cohort to a prostitute.

They probably make the best use of red lights.

Alternatively, it could work in a photographer's darkroom, or perhaps act as the "stop" signal at busy intersections.

Finally, if you place it at the top of a monument, a red light makes a good beacon for night-flying dragons.

Rogue/Wizard.... use Still Spell. You'd get sneak attack damage; who the hell expects a ray of frost from a lantern?
