Glass of Power.

Would it be possible to make a staff (say, a staff of power) out of some alternate material? Glass, for example? And if so, what would happen, were you to block an attack from a sword with said Glass Staff of Power? Assuming the staff would shatter, who would be responsible for breaking it, and thus would get the 50/50 death or planar banishment option?

Not that I'd ever do this, mind you. >.>

I do not believe that just 'breaking' the staff of power is the same as using its "retributive strike" ability...

A staff of power can be used for a retributive strike, requiring it to be broken by its wielder.

In any event, it is the staff's wielder who has a 50% chance to be shunted to another plane (or destroyed).

Ah so. Good point. No matter, I'm a smart fella, I'm sure I can come up with a way to get the baddie to break it for me.

As I read it, I dont think it is as easy as getting someone to break it - You have to physically do it. I would adjudicate it as a standard action for the wielder.
