glass worm (another new critter)

how bout this one?

glass worm

a golem made entirely of melted sand that lives in a pool in a wizards keep. once created it is set to swim in the pool, with a modicum of treasure(a few gp) sitting loose int he bottom of the pool. being made of glass it would be nearly invisible (dc 30 spot)

anything going for the treasure, or even washing or drinking from the pool, will attract the attention of this unthinking eating machine and it will almost always come at a big advantage because only an idiot swims in his armor. it only digests flesh, so anything worn or carried by something it eats gets deposited on the bottom of its pool, attracting new food

add in the lack of effectivenees of fire on an underwater creature, and the nasty effects electricity would have on someone trying to save a fellow p.c. and you have one nasty endentured vermicritter

Thats not bad

You might add a few things to it, such as, when it eats, it turns a glassy red from the blood. This last for 24 hours as the flesh and blood is digested. Since the PCs already know it is there, this would just be a creep factor.

EXCELLENT!!! thanks to wicht, i thought about this one a bit, even drew up entire stats for it wothout ever considering the "look, bob is getting digested" factor.
