Glee #14: Hell-o

It's back! This is now my favorite show, and the four month hiatus was WAYYY too long. I hope they don't do this again.

This week, we say "Hello" to Broadway stars Jonathan Groff and Idina Menzel as the lead singer and director, respectively of Vocal Adrenaline, the rival glee club. Groff is the third cast member of Spring Awakening to be on Glee - the others being Lea Michelle (Rachel) and Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina).

The playlist (note the common element):

Rachel and Jesse St. James (Groff) sing "Hello", originally performed by Lionel Richie.

Finn sings "Hello, I Love You", originally performed by The Doors.

Rachel sings "Gives You Hell', originally performed by The All-American Rejects (shouldn't they have given this one to Tina?).

Vocal Adrenaline sings "Highway to Hell", originally performed by AC/DC.

Mr. Shue sings "Hello Again", originally performed by Neil Diamond.

New Directions sings "Hello Goodbye", originally performed by The Beatles.

sweet episode.

I think one of the best parts of the show is that it shakes things up regularly and hard. The third episode in and the head villain student is turned into one of the protagonists.

I hope Quinn gets some good face time. I like Rachel, she's a great character, but Finn... well, he's so clueless so much of the time it's hard to see why everyone expects him to be the leader.

Also what bugs me is that more of the cast isn't featured more often. Tina has a great voice. Mercedes (amber reiley) is phenomenal when she sings. What shocks me is that they keep getting pushed to the back of the stage for, of all people, Finn. Not that he isn't an important character, but they also have a lot going for them.

I thought the episode was a good one, but some kind of explosion would have been good. I don't know what, but a big boom of some sort would work. Like the car wash last half: it was ridiculous eye-candy, but that razzle-dazzle pushed the episode over the top.

Not a bad ep, but finding Sue back to her tricks so quickly was a bit disappointing. I agre that they should feature some of the other singers more. There's only so much you can do with Schu/Sue and the Quinn/Finn/Rachel/Puck/? storyline.
