GLEE #42: Prom Queen

New Directions performs at the prom, and several of the girls are running for prom queen. As you probably know, an extra has already revealed the identity of the winner. While she shouldn't have done it, the reactions of the producer (threatening to keep her from working) were overly harsh, not to mention hypocritical, since they already said something like this would happen as far back as last year.

Jesse St. James also returns, apparently to help the glee club with nationals. But whose side is he really on? Hopefully we'll finally get some closure with his story line.

The playlist:

Rachel and Jesse sing "Rolling in the Deep", originally performed by Adele

Artie sings "Isn't She Lovely", originally performed by Stevie Wonder

Mercedes and Santana sing "Dancing Queen", originally performed by ABBA

Blaine, Tina, and Brittany sing "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You", originally performed by Black Kids

Rachel sings "Jar of Hearts", originally performed by Christina Perri

Artie, Puck, and Sam sing "Friday", originally performed by Rebecca Black (because apparently doing Justin Bieber songs wasn't enough)

I love my DVR - I was able to fast forward through "Friday" and not have to suffer the ignorance, I mean the horror of listening to that piece of tripe. "Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal" Really powerful stuff there.... I think I preferred "Trouty Mouth".

Other than that one weak song, this episode was excellent. Great acting, great tension, great drama, and a pretty good amount of comedy. Artie was the exception in this episode, they kind of wimped him out more than usual. Although the lemonade incident was pretty ingenious, it was pulled off a little late in the game and could have been played up a little better, but, again, overall - excellent.
