It looks like we're going to sectionals again tonight, although how are they going to qualify? Even with the return of an old friend, they're still not going to have enough members.

The playlist:

Sam sings "Red Solo Cup", originally performed by Toby Keith

Rachel and New Directions sing "We Are Young", originally performed by Fun

The Troubletones do a mashup of "I Will Survive", originally performed by Gloria Gaynor, and "Survivor", originally performed by Destiny's Child

The Unitards sing "Buenos Aires", originally performed in Evita.

New Directions sings "ABC", originally performed by the Jackson 5

New Directions sings "Control", originally performed by Janet Jackson

New Directions sings "Man In the Mirror", originally performed by Michael Jackson

Oddly enough, the last three songs are on Glee: The Music, Volume 7 but don't seem to be available as singles, which is weird. Also weird, Breaking In is supposed to be on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. beginning next March. But Glee is on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and it's an hour! I hope Glee isn't in trouble.

I think since the artist's death, rights to his songs have been either difficult or expensive to come by.

I think since the artist's death, rights to his songs have been either difficult or AND expensive to come by.

There I fixed it for you...
Most of MJ's song rights have been secured for his estate past the 20 year rights period of most music (meaning he bought the rights as they expired). Of course, this also means a lot of The Beatles catalog is also out of reach for some time (He owned about half of those too).

If his estate is the true holder of the rights, then PM1, PM2 & Paris will have the option to extend when they come of age, meaning until that time, the rights are being held by a guardian. After a lengthy battle his oldest sister Rebbie (REE-BEE) Jackson became CEO of MJJ Music and she and her mother Katherine are the current stewards of his children. (much to ole Joe's chagrin I'm sure (serves him right)). Though, as the Jackson melodrama is still turning, this may or may not change in the future.
