Gleemax Alpha is Live

Hmph. Forum migration is down, so I can't transfer my account. And since my account name exists on the forums, unless I want a new account name, I can't sign up.

There's a way around that: Go to the login screen and pretend that you forgot your password. Add your email address, and then you will get sent a new password which you can use to log in (and re-enter your old password).

For me, the main feature that draws me in is the blog system. I'll probably use it frequently to add strategic plugs for Urbis... ;)

Well, I edited my profile page and put up a simple post...not that it appears you can do much with it yet. I'm a bit surprised that my current CCG of choice (UFS) is already listed...I didnt think it would be 'big' enough to be there, not that I mind.

Since many of the DnD Blog entries are moving over to Gleemax, is there a list of where their pages are so I can check em regularly?

Thanks for the workaround. On the Circvs I would posrep you for that. And probably insult your mother. But definitely posrep you.

I'll probably use the blog for my one and only Hasbro obsession: RISK 2210

All well and good, but don't feel that you're restricted to WotC/Hasbro; when setting up your profile, the games you play section already has titles from Green Ronin, Fantasy Flight Games, and other companies.

Not that it seems to have any purpose at the moment, you can't even have 'friends', probably the most basic thing you expect with a social networking site.

Damn, you're right. I thought there was a way to "favorite" people (since my account includes "Solice" as a mandatory favorite), but there's no button to favorite real people. Gleemax is actually less functional than I thought when I looked at it yesterday.

So really, the only features Gleemax seems to have added (compared to the old WOTC forums) are expanded user profiles, and is some simple blogging software. That took them four months. (Gleemax was announced in June.) Professional programmers should have been able to accomplish more than that. There are probably off-the-shelf software packages that could have accomplished more.

Rolling Gleemax out this early looks like a mistake to me. WOTC is now saying the full-featured site will be available "next year" -- they've given themselves months to garner a bad reputation.

Is it just me, or are the Gleemax WotC forums down now? I get a blank page when loading any forum link, including from the Gleemax homepage.

Oh I know that. But I have fansites for my other material already.

Although I could move my Junk Dreams log over there too. But I'm not sure Gleemax needs a blog about designing an RPG based around heroin use.

Actually, there is - just go to the Profile Page of the relevant Gleemax members and you will find an "Add Favorite" function in the control panel. For me it works just fine - I already added two people to my list.

What control panel? I only see a "Control Panel" on my profile page, and most of the time when I choose "Manage Favorites," I get the "Unexpected Error" page. (It once worked well enough to see that Solice is a mandatory favorite.)
