There's a "workaround". If you fail to log in, take a close look at your address bar, directly after you typed in a wrong username and/or password... and replace a certain word with "true" (it should be obvious). Then it authenticates you and it sets a cookie for "logged in" - and that cookie is valid for two weeks, so you don't need to do that for the next two weeks.
I guess that's a bug and it will most probably fixed soon (and I hope so, because when the free mode ends, and the bug is still there... well, that won't be pretty) - but it should help, at least for know and until you can get that regular account working
And since they have massive problems, they'll overhaul it soon, so I think there's no harm in sharing this.
