Gnome help please

The Races of Faerun describes Gnome food as fantastically bland and salty. They pretty much describe it as having few redeeming qualities for non-Gnomes except the interesting experince of eating foods that are both too bland and too salty.

Their liquor is supposed to be excellent.

As a gnome myself, perhaps I may offer some assistance on this matter... (BTW, I take offense at the poster who recommends eating gnomes - very rude. Must be an orc!)

Anyway, gnomes are fond of nature's bounty, 'tis true. Fruits, berries, truffles (when we can find them!), delicate cakes and pastries made of fruits, vegetables or meats, goat cheeses and milk (they're the best!), heartier baked goods (stews and cassaroles), and anything with honey in it! :)

We do not eat insects, arachnids, worms, or other invertibrates, although a nice squab or the occasional goose or chicken sometimes find its way onto the menu.

Likewise, we do not eat burrowing animals. They are our friends and they carry on quite a nice conversation if the "bigger" races would only take the time to listen! :)

Hope this helps.

Gez might know that irl the ripe fruit (berry) of Belladona are in fact edible (by humans too) however every other part of the plant and immature fruit are poisonous (so don't try this at home without expert guidance:))

This quite contradicts you. You may not die if you don't eat too much, but even one won't be pleasant.

Meanwhile, there are several species of small birds or mammals than feast on the deadly nightshade, aka wolfsbane, aka belladona, without problem.

Believe it or not I've actually worked on this before... gnomes and food for fantasy gaming.
I cannot give out what I have done myself but in a nice, open friendly tip sort of way take a look at the make up of the gnome...
gnomes tend to be friends of the animals... so expect a lighter variety of meat.... if you view gnomes as inventors it is possible that they are a bit farther along with the concepts of food production... alas their food might feature more well developed condiments and so forth.
