Gnome invention rules

I remember back in the day seeing a table of rules for dragonlance gnomish inventions. I have similarly inventive-ish gnomes IMC and I was wondering if that table or something like it has been converted / produced for 3E.

Don't have anything quite like it from what I know, but Magic of Faerun has a Gnomish artificer PrC. In addition, Deadlands d20 has rules for mad science (not terribly unlike gnomish inventions), and Dragonstar has several gadget-type classes.

Unfortunately I cannpt afford to spend any money on any of those settings

If you can't afford to spend any money, than this may not help you, but Steam-trains & Sorcery, which we are in the process of putting together, includes a class devoted to inventions and over 100 devices for them to use. We'll be releasing it as a pdf, so it will be cheaper than buying a print book.
