Gnomes Rule!

I can't understand why people don't like gnomes. I have a 2nd level gnome barbarian with 20 constitution. He has 30 HP! He has an absolutely deadly fortitude check, and most importantly he is an absolute blast to play.

He may only have 13 strength but he is a tough little mofo. He prefers to wear his enemies down bit by bit. The small size makes gives him an AC bonus and a +1 to hit and being an barbarian he can move just as quickly as the tall folk.

In short Gnomes rock.

And you don't have to stick to stereotypes when playing them.

Gnomes are by far the great PC race.
They fit in your back pack, there just big enuff to fit into a oven if they act up, and they plump when you cook 'em.
Not all tuff and stringy like those darn Halflings.

i forgot about garden gnomes... or lawn gnomes.... whatever you call them....

As always, we French know better:

I call them "nain de jardin" (garden dwarf). They are *not* gnomes, but dwarfs. (Not dwarves, dwarfs. Dwarfs in the same way that Snowwhite's friends are dwarfs. Moreover, most "garden gnomes" I've seen are modelled after the Disney vision of dwarfs, so they're garden dwarfs. That's it.)

getting left out of Pool of Radiance II and generally getting forgotten about.
If you are talking about the latest 'Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor', you ought to feel thankfull gnomes were left out...

Even though the rest of the world is deluded I prefer to continue to differentiate between dwrafs and gnomes. In Scandinavia gnomes are common but dwarves are pretty rare. We call the gnomes 'tomtar' and dwarves 'dvärgar' (duergar).

A couple of years ago I read in the news about the Gnome Liberation Army. Do you remember that? A group of people who stole a garden gnome from some people's garden (naturally). Later on they sent postcards ("cartes postales", for you french) back to the owner of the gnome with the picture feauring the garden gnome standing before the Sidney Opera House or the Pyramids of Egypt. They kept it up for more than a year as they travelled around the world. Then suddenly, one morning the garden gnome was back in the garden as if it never been away!

In Dutch, it's garden gnomes: "Tuin-Kabouters". Dwarves are "Dwergen" and they live in the "Bergen". So, a mountain dwarf would be a "Berg Dwerg".

Scroll down to the bottom of this page, and see the banner. Y'see that guy with the flames background? He's a gnome, and he's a smug li'l bastard.

Even though he does have giant hummingbird wings on his back.
