Personally I think it's a really fun term. I hadn't heard it before, but I like it.

Goblins are fun, people enjoying characterizing themselves or their behavior as goblin-like has been a fun thing the last few years, and this is amusing.

I do have a bit of trouble with a multi-word phrase being accorded "word of the year" status, but that's mostly an aesthetic preference.

I mean its funny on multiple levels to me, that after years of 'no we cannot stereotype goblins!' here we have it codified, that goblins are what we thought they were.

Unfortunately not online or in politics. Things are either 1 or 10, sucks or awesome, there is no kinda sucks or just meh anymore. Seems to depend on which side one is promoting.
