The elven warrior changes into the golden dragon, and flies away, pondering the words of his brother.

Othar goes about his work, weaving the planes together and binding them with magic. At the end of his task, magic and the planes draw upon eachother, the planes bound, connected and filled with magic and magic uses the planes, both new and old as a conduit for its power

OOC:Bring magic to the other planes and let it create instead of only change. Bind the cosmos together.

When Bea'ral feels the change to magic he is again overjoyed, so happy is he, he returns to the elves to see what they have done with this wonderous change. He walks in marvel of the change wrought by the elves and is gladden for it. All the while a greater change is being contemplated.

One of the disciples of magic, Aeshra'el, approaches Bea'ral, "Master, we live with sorrow. When we have children, they sometime are not elves, but monstrous things. We have tried to change it, but can not. Is there same way you could teach us to stop this?"

Bea'ral looked at his disciple, looked deep with in her and nodded, IT IS NOT MY NATURE TO STOP SUCH THINGS, BUT IT IS WITHIN YOURS. I BELIEVE IT IS TIME TO SEE WHAT THIS CHANGE TO MAGIC MAY BRING.

With that, Bea'ral took Aeshra'el's hand and gathered his will. With the change Othar had wrought, Bea'ral now created. In the night sky, which had been previously devoid of light, appeared a silvery disc, sheding it's dim light over darkness which had previously reigned. It grew larger and larger til it rivalled the sun in size.

The new celestial body was created of the will of Bea'ral and Aeshra'el, It shed light upon the night, but changed how much over time. It brought change to the oceans with the tides. It changed the reproductive cycle of higher beings, binding it to the cycles of it, but preventing further interference from outside sources.

But the drawing of magic for so great an exercise ripped havok with the normal function of magic. For a time it was completely uncontrollable by anything less than direct diefic intervention. For twenty five years the world was functionally without magic. For the next seventy five years things slowly returned to normal, still over that time period, long range magic (translocation, communication) was all but impossible.



OOC:

Creates the moon. In so doing shields the reproductive cycles of mammalian life by tying it to the cycles of the moon. Creation of the moon disrupts magic to a varying degree over a 100 years.

The Dweller at the Gate had made no deals with Bea'ral, but had expected that in magnanimously sharing a portion of the divine energy drawn from the casting of spells a certain understanding would be in place. At least the Changelord could be more easily contended with than Othar or the Lord of Balance. The Dweller crept forth from a fissure on this new heavenly body, that was already starting to cause devastaion amongst the inherently magical aberrations. It then suffused the moon with its powers of transformation, causing the light reflected from its surface deadly to all life, but destabilizing the planetoid internally.

The Dweller then whispered to the aberrations in their caverns and other hidden places. It tells them of the roots and minerals they must consume to fortify themselves against the disruption of magic.

OOC - Makes moon lethal to surface but not subterranean life. Also makes moon easier to destroy. Provides knowledge to protect aberrations.

Note - As far as I can tell, no one fought against the thing to cause elves to breed monsters. So, if I'm right, ALL children of elves are monsters.

In return I desire that the last third return as undead under my control. Also my aberrations need slaves to build cities. I require the labor but not the devotion of perhaps a million of your little ones. Do we have an agreement?[/sblock]

As a direct result, the goblin empire encompassing the world fractured into several hostile warring states and a great civil war erupted.

OOC:

Creates the moon. In so doing shields the reproductive cycles of mammalian life by tying it to the cycles of the moon. Creation of the moon disrupts magic to a varying degree over a 100 years causing the goblin empire to collapse because of a lack of central authority.

ooc: Not quite collapse, just some instability. A thousand years of national and religious identity can not be undone that easily. They are after all Lawful.

The loss of arcane magic proved to be a severe blow against the Empire, disrupting communications and causing the arcane cast to grow all but extinct, and yet it was not so devastating as some would have believed. For the Changelord had little power over Thef'chu Nefut's own magic and her clergy grew stronger than ever when it did no longer have to contend with the wielders of the arcane. Even though casting divine spells did grow more difficult the essential services could still be provided. The temples still upheld their communications, and they still knew the Will of the Goddess. And though usurpers no longer had to worry about their doom arriving by teleportation windwalking could still bring swift punishment to those who believed themselves immune to the consequences of treason. Just in case, she appears in the dreams of all of her people, an experience that leave them shaken and awed:
"Know, my children, that this is a time of punishment and testing. Be faithful, and you will know paradise. Betray Me and the Divine Empire, and you will suffer eternally. Uphold my law, and be content in your mortal existence."

She also visits her faithful clerics, wizards and sorcerers within their dreams and whispers secrets to them. The wizards who survive her teachings can change their arcane class levels to Cleric and the Clerics gradually have their spell-lists expanded.

ooc: The disruption of magic effectively ends arcane casting in the Empire, but most of that damage is undone by Thef'chu Nefut granting the more important arcane spells as divine spells to her clerics. There is some internal disruption, but it doesn't even approach civil war, and disloyal elements are purged (along with some unfortunate innocents). In the end the Empire is more united than ever before.

Life is but a facet of Death, and my People must spawn before they die. Without food, with the very night lethal to them, they will die before their time. That will deprive me of far more souls than you or any deity could offer me. And you suggest an alliance, while your actions speak of War? You would fight me, while Others are attacking your interests?" She smiles trough the veil. "No."
"Instead let us bring back the purity of the night. Remove the moon, with my assistance, and we can discuss the terms of our alliance."

Thef'chu Nefut attempts to send the moon out of orbit and into the sun. If she fails in that she does what she can to shield the earth from its harmful rays.

Othar works to prevent the moon from entering the plane of fire. He puts his full will into opposing Thef'chu Nefut's attempt to shove the earth into the sun, and reasoning:

ooc: Oh, right. I actually didn't think of that, just wanted to get the damn thing out of the way.

Encountering opposition from an unexpected direction the Goddess changes her tactics, instead trying to cast the moon out into the void beyond the light of the sun where its influences can no longer be felt. (into outer space)

Bea'ral smiles at the cosmic game of pinball. As the moon moves back toward the Cradle, he exerts his influence on it directly.

The fissures that the Dweller has struck upon it rupture from the stress Thef'chu Nefut movements have caused. The once mighty moon splits assunder, splitting into two. As the physical form is split into two, so is it's magical nature. The larger half remains as it was intended, a light in the darkness, a instrument of protection. The second half becomes the deathmoon, it's life deadly to all life.

The moons split causes a change in tragetory and as luck would have it, the moon and the deathmoon re-enter orbits of Cradle. The moon, dimmer than before, it's power weaker, in a stable orbit around Cradle, the deathmoon in a rogue elipitical orbit that would not see its return for a millenia.

To pacify the Dweller, Bea'ral whispers in the sleep of the disenfrancised goblins, the least in their society, whispers to them of dark secrets and paths to power. He shows them ways to sacrifice other goblins in secret to the Dweller, that feed him power and that they too can draw power from from the sacrifice. Above all he shows them how to remain secret.

OOC:
Splits the moon into two, the baleful Deathmoon which may one day return from outerspace and the moon itself, which, though dimished in power, retains it's orginal purpose.

Creates cultist to the Dweller beyond the Gate among the goblins and creates blood magic, magic powered by death.

"Not ready for a culling yet? Pity, it would have been amusing. You will notice that I have also rendered the moon more readily destructible. Either outcome is acceptible."

Othar turns to the 'verse and decides that the apocalypse will fast approach at the rate souls are moving and makes this decree:
Listen to me all. As souls cross planes whether my own or someone else's, they deteriorate the binding holding those planes together. I will work to repair these bonds but i need souls to do so. At the rate i get souls now, the bonds will break relatively soon. When the bonds break, the planes will converge on eachother signaling the end of the first age.
