Looks like I'm with the general crowd in liking 5-6 players and 1 DM. Having the breathing room to have one or two players drop a session and allowing them to play more than the 'core' classes allows an easier time to myself as the DM.
Admittedly if you have players that skip often it can make planning encounters a little difficult, but overall it's something that can be dealt with.
