Going to Origins.

Help,
My wife and I are going to Origins this year. We can't seem to register to play anything. Are we too early or too late? (or just ignorant?)

This is our fist time to visit Origins.

It's great to hear you are making the trip up! Unfortunately Origins this year has really had bad web site arrangements. You can buy a badge and look at what you want to sign up for but the actual sign up has not happened yet. Last year was also a pain in the ass and I ended up buying generics on site and used them for many of my games. I have planned out what I hope to sign up for with back up games selected in hopes that on line sign up will happen.

I'm a local, I've gone to the con every year its been here. If you have any questions I'll answer what I can! :D

Thanks!
I went to Gencon in 08' and we registered in February or March. It's a relief that we haven't missed out yet.

My girlfriend and I will be at Origins this year. Our first time. I'm going to be spending a decent amount of time near the GPA Booth (since my company, Jon Brazer Enterprises, will be selling one of our books from there). Stop by the booth and say hi (#420).

I'm going to Origins thsi year - even running two con games!

I wish the Origins site had a forum. I still haven't gotten a roommate for my hotel room. The cost of the hotel for 4 nights with just me is a real kick in the pants.

I'll be there! Kind of sad that there isn't more variety in the WotC stuff, but looking forward to trying Dresden Files RPG and a few others.

I was actually quite pleased with the selection of WotC games there. I love LFR and think the selection at Origins is more to my liking than the selection at this upcoming GenCon, plus there's teh zombie madness game- or whatever it's called. Come on, who doesn't love zombies?

My advice for going to a Con for the first time...

Only worry about signing up for things ahead of time if you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to play them.

There are going to be 1001 pickup games, demo games, and games you can join the day-of that you can play your heart out without having to preregister for things. No need to create and adhere to a timetable if you don't need to.

One of our favorite things to do at both Origins and Gen-Con is just to visit the boardgame borrow rooms. We just grab a game off the shelf that looks fun to us all and sit down and have a ball. Its usually easy to find some friendly other games to join in if you need more players, too.
