As shilsen said, but let's discuss the ramifications. You are essentially creating new type of golem, a rust-free iron golem. You'll (the DM) have to decide its new challenge rating and appropriately enhanced treasure, cost to create, etc. It's not, despite your intent, equivalent to just outfitting the golem with a magical item because it becomes part of the golem and unusable by anyone else. It's much better if you just outfit the golem with the gauntlet so that (A) the heroes can obtain the treasure afterwards, assuming they win, (B) you don't have to modify the CR or balance treasure accordingly -- though make sure you account for the gauntlet in the overall treasure of the BBEG/golem itself, and (C) the heroes could possibly implement the excellent tactic of targeting the gauntlet with a dispel magic and then the polymorphed sorcerer can touch the golem with her rust monster tentacles.TYPO5478 said:Okay, fair enough. Here's another question: Since an iron golem arguably has a "gauntlet-shaped" hand/forearm, could one add the cost of creating a Gauntlet of Rust to the cost of creating a golem to integrate the enchantment into the golem's structure (i.e. imbue the golem itself with the effect of a Gauntlet of Rust and do away with the necessity of actually having to wear one)?
