Opinions? I like them as an alternative to the "large" monster PC and between them and half-giants (XPH) think I see a trend for the half-ogre in Races of Destiny...

I like the culture notes...there are some good roleplaying hooks.

Those "quasi-large" advantages are cool...I wonder what sort of racial feats will bolster their ability to Be Really Big?

I'd rather just see a set bonus to checks involving size (such as +2 to grapple, etc).

What's with them being Monstrous Humanoids instead of just Humanoids? They don't seem to have "monstrous or animalistic features".

I just wish they'd go all the way and make them "Large" creatures as opposed to this pseudo-large stuff. It's already got LA, so there's no real harm in it.

In my experience, reach can be pretty powerful mojo.

I dig them.

In the same campaign as a half-giant, they might be a tad superflous, but they seem custom made for the non-psionic campaign. I really like the cultural notes as they'll give players a good definition for their character, and goliaths end up being something unique and different from the other core races.

I'm all for the pseudo-large abilities. It really gives players of a goliath (or half-giant) a host of new strategies to consider. I'd play one.

Don't encourage them. These kind-of-large-but-not-really rules and ones like them are exceptions to the real rules. That type of crap is the reason 3e was made. There was no standard way of doing things. And they mostly accomplished their goal. Half-Giants are Large or Medium. Goliaths are Large or Medium. They are not the ONLY TWO CREATURES IN EXISTENCE THAT ARE KIND-OF-LARGE!!!! I personally will just make them both Large and that's the end of it. If they need to Medium for some design reason for being PC races, then maybe they shouldn't have been made into PC races in the first place. I don't know what happened to all the good designers at Wizards... Oh wait, yeah I do! They all quit and started their own companies!!
