Heretic Apostate

In "Choice of Destinies," an alternate history novel, Alexander the Great turns west instead of east. Instead of conquering through to India, he instead turns to the Mediterranean, conquering the Romans, and defeating the Carthagians.
As the novel goes on, there are interludes, showing the future of this empire. The empire mixes Greeks (and Macedonians), Romans (without their smug superiority) and Persians. With the innovativeness of the Greeks at the head of the empire, the conquest of space happens MUCH earlier.
What other cultural mixes just seem right?
