OK so I was reading todays post's on this site and noticed that the BOED gices good pc's
1) redeemed 2) Exalted 3) The Saint Template 4) VoP and I think better PRC classes than the BoVD. Now the BOVD offers ? to counter the good guys?

No such thing as vow of greed or a evil saint variant whats up with that? Am I missing something here?

And the PRCs are fairly meh as well. Im not really impressed with BOVD, it seems to be more for fluff than actual usable mechanics.

I didnt want to just compare the BOVD vs. BOED I was more along th line of trying to find what evil guys get to counter the saint template, the redeemed template, and vop etc.

They get to be evil. :)

I mean Vow of Poverty means you have to give up the phat loot!

And most of the Exalted stuff holds you to an extremely high moral standard where if you screw up even once, you lose, permanently, all the benefits (exalted feats, and those things for which they are prerequisites).

Evil characters can torture for information, use poison, kill without serious concern about collateral damage, use undead minions, use mind-controlled minions, cheat, backstab,...the list goes on. And at the end of it all, they will still be evil.

Some evil prestige classes include Blackguard and Assassin, in the DMG.

Wotc didn not really intend the BOVD to be a player book all that much.

Most of those Book of vile furries [BOED] options restrict the player's options a lot. Especially in game where the grey road is acceptable for PCs. If i am playing a non good character, no way would i tolerate [in game] a VOP to give away 1/4 off our treasure haul. If he or she does not want it , thats fine, but it is not leaving the party.

In a game where all alignments are allowed, the game will likly degrade to PVP if there are exalted and evil PCs in the game.

Check out heroes of horror for flaws that would be the equivalent of exalted feats for evil folks.

Like Murderous, where you MUST kill anyone near you that is helpless, friend or foe.

Whats PVP?

OK so evil guys get to be evil killing to make themselves powerful? In D&D good guys need to kill to get powerful, probably with more discretion but they still need to kill. And when they do they are hailed as heroes. The good guys have the people behind them, have community support, etc. The good guys are usually going to be welcomed heroes; people will do things for them more readily, will lower prices, here is my daughter you know the basket full of food and goodies for free kind stuff. If bad guys want that they will usually have to steal it.

Where is the evil Saint?
