Good NPC turned Villan

a few notes, I house ruled monk mulitclassing and I may have made a few errors. writing up a multi character is hard enough, but add in the +1 ECL, it get even harder, and being an apprentace doesn't help much either.


Background: Valis grew up in a monastery, raised by the monks and clerics there after the murder of his family, a small farmer and his wife, by an evil elemental while Valis was only a child. He first began to show a talent for sorcery around 9 or 10 years old and later began to explore his powers. He soon found that he had difficulty controlling his powers and turned to the meditative teachings of his monastic, surrogate family.

Behind the Scenes: Valis is unaware of his true heritage, most monks being unaware of the difference and those few who did know had not the heart to tell him. In actuality, his family was not killed by an elemental, nor were they poor farmers. He was stolen away by agents of an evil lord and smuggled to the monastery for safekeeping. Unfortunately, Valis’ true parentage heard of his location and sent a fire elemental to retrieve him. The agents were killed, but the elemental was also destroyed in the ensuing battle. Discovery of his heritage is a possible story line exploitable by the DM.

Since leaving the monastery, Valis has learned that he is different, and has met another Genasi with which he travels. He has also begun to uncover the truth about his past. As he learns more he becomes hateful toward the monks who raised him, and slowly toward the world as a whole. He is slowly slipping into the precipice of evil.

By this point Valis has become truly become evil, his alignment shifts to LE. He has finally pieced together the peaces of his childhood. After this realization, he has returned to destroy the monastery where he grew up.
