Good replacement monsters

I need Open Content monsters which are similar to Jermlaine and Needlemen. Anyone got any suggestions?

[War of the Burning Sky has inspired me to write up the adventure path from my homebrew campaign. I'm removing from it the stuff which is product identity, more as an intellectual exercise than any real hope of getting it published.]

Also, anyone have a preferred "snake people" race? I'm lost amongst the dozens available. Ideally I want ones akin to Yuan-ti purebloods, being able to (almost) pass for human

Are mites or snyads in the Tome of Horrors?

other mini thieves could be quicklings or sprites or sprigs or similar fey.

as for needlemen. how about something that is more spider like instead of plant like. is the ettercap Open content?

and for snakemen... ophidian? or maybe go a little different. go lizard like. fire newt or salamander.

I hear good things about Ari's Iconic Monsters of Fantasy PDF, which has substitutes for the major missing-from-the-SRD monsters. I don't think a jermlaine replacement is in there, but he's got a Yuan-Ti substitute.

Its had some good reviews. Didn't realise it was Mouseferatu's - guess I'll have to pick it up.

Diaglo - I'd forgotten all about quicklings. The PCs had enough trouble with the Jermlaine. Quicklings would just be evil. I like it! Its in the Tome of Horrors, which I already have.

Rich - Mites are also in Tome of Horrors. Another good suggestion.

Thanks guys.

One of the Creature Weekly pdf books by Octaviarate games has a cactus man I believe, as does Book of Beasts (a free monster OGL monster book on the web) IIRC.

Inspiration wise the snake people from R.E. Howard Kull and Conan story works here, basically lizardfolk who can disguise self to appear human.

I don't know what the actual Mongoose Conan OGL serpent people stats are like or how much is designated OGC.

which is also rehashed/used in the Dragonlance books. right from the very beginning.
some of the draconians appear as humans or at least can from a distance ;)
