Good zombie RPGs other than AFMBE?

There is also Year of the Zombie.

I seriously miss my PDF copy of this supplement for d20 Modern :( If I still had it (and d20 Modern), I would probably wouldn't have posted this thread ;)

AFMBE is STILL available, still in print (including many books getting reprinted all the time) and has books in the pipeline to come out (2 this year). The only sourcebook currently OP in our warehouse at the moment is the first Book of Archetypes (reprint coming). The corebook just got reprinted a few months ago.

AFMBE since its launch in 2000 has been Eden's most succesfull RPG line, now topping over 20,000+ hardcopies sold (corebook only), two foriegn language translations (more to come) - so yeah, it's still here and still selling very well every month :)

Everytime a new zombie movie comes out - sales spike. A smart retailer stocks the line. We are on out 7th printing of the corebook alone (on average selling thru a print run every 8 months) as well as a few top selling sourceooks on their second/third printings.

Any game store can still order it from ANY distributor. If your store doesn't stock it - all you need to do is ask your LGS to order you copies. If not, you can order them online from various sources (Eden's website, amazon, etc).

As for the further support comment.... the AFMBE line has 14 books to it currently. Do you own all/any of them?

Our AFMBE message boards has ton of fan made material- weekly.

What does the line lack that makes you think the line needs further support? I'd really like to know? Any data like this would help us design new books. We have 4 books in the pipeline now - 1 due out in a few months the second for the holiday season and the other 2 we have not announced yet. So yeah - their is still support for the game.

Seriously... I dont see another zombie survival horror RPG out there with anything other than a corebook (ie Dead Meat, Zombi, Year of the Zombie) that isnt a PDF ;)

I recently purchased some AFMBE books from Amazon, and most of them including the core book seem to be in stock. The core book was dicounted 27% off of list price.

Weird. I checked there a few months back and they hardly had any of the books. At any rate, online shopping isn't for me currently, due to financial issues.

Eden has had problems getting money out of amazon in the past. Don't know if that issue has past or not.

As for other systems, I would definitely second Fear, Itself and Esoterrorists (which you said you already had). I'd suggest Armageddon, but then you'd run into the same problem of it being an Eden book. For more silly survival horror, I'd suggest the Army of Darkness RPG, but again, same problem of it being an Eden book.

I tend to collect survival horror books, but don't run the games much, if at all, since my tastes in that area don't mirror my group's. I also tend to collect Eden books, obviously.

I've never played it but Zombie: the Coil seems like a nice game. You need to know the rules in the old World of Darkness (old, not the new one) though, some experience in the world might be nice as well.

As for the Amazon/Eden problems of the past... that has been resolved :)

They now stock and pay us on time. Finally.

The Army of Darkness RPG is a one shot corebook. But since it uses the Unisystem, you can use our other game lines for other material.

Hi, George.

I've owned the first two printings of the 1e AFMBE core book, as well as the 1st printing of the revised core book and more than half of the supplements at various times. Due to a perceived underwhelming market presence recently (typified by hard to find core books), I came to the conclusion that AFMBE was out of the running this time around. Why specifically?

I tried to order a copy of the AFMBE core book a year or so ago from several local game stores, only to be told by their distributors that they didn't have any copies of the book in stock, and that they weren't certain when they would get new copies in as it was currently. As mentioned, Amazon had next to nothing in the way of new Eden products in stock at the time (except, IIRC, Terra Primate). It seemed prudent, as a consumer, for me to track down games that distributors and game stores wouldn't have any issues ordering for me.

Further, in addition to distribution issues with your most popular game line, Eden has a site home/news page that hasn't been updated since November of last year*, delivered poor support for Buffy and Angel (both product lines that I bought into full tilt, FWIW), and has utterly failed to deliver on titles like City of Heroes and Beyond Human for years now. Given all of these truths, I really don't think that choosing something other than AFMBE as my zombie game of choice was too outrageous a decision.

While I commend you for keeping Eden's doors open through license losses and development issues, as a consumer, I don't feel comfortable buying products from a company that consistently doesn't meet release dates, suffers frequent distribution problems, and for whom keeping a website updated is an constant battle. I've been a huge Eden fan and supporter in the past but, frankly, consider my confidence shattered.

Sorry, George, but AFMBE simply isn't the zombie game for me anymore.

*And several sections of the website that haven't been updated for more than two years.
