I think we now have the answer to the question regarding Goodman Games' decision regarding the GSL. Not only it seems they are going via copyright for 4e, they've expanded that copyright strategy to target older versions as well, as the 1e titles above show.

I'm not gonna be surprised a bit if the reason they are stopping the sale of the current run of OGL 3.X mods is because we'll see them soon under copyright for older versions, as well as for 3.Xe, ridding themselves of external licenses alltogether.

EXCELLENT news! I love Goodman Game's stuff and hoped to see them put out more materials for 1st and 3rd edition. Looks like that'll be the case.

While not definitive, I think this is a very promising sign that Goodman is forgoing the GSL.

What I don't understand is - while I think Hinterwelt's theory is likely - why GG would abandon all licenses. The OGL still works just fine (and in some cases, even better) than using copyright law to produce 3.5E materials. Likewise, OSRIC would serve them pretty well in releasing 1E-compatible products. Ditching the OGL seems a bit overkill.

They do make adventures for OSRIC. Link. Well generally its the same adventure just with 1E stats. OSRIC doesn't have a logo license so they can't claim OSRIC compatability. "1E" is the standard OSRIC verbage.

I'd call it a definite that GG is not going GSL. I mean they might use the "standard verbage" GSL or not, but they're still putting out 1E/OSRIC modules in the same line. And since OSRIC uses the OGL there's no way that DCC is going to be GSL.

Not really. This still only details what is happening through September, it's still the time period where they couldn't be using the GSL to release.

Both of the 1E adventures, that are part of the DCC product line, are Gencon exclusives so they won't be an issue if GG goes with the GSL in October.

And the possiblity still exists that GG has negotiated a separate license.

The 1E titles are indicative of nothing. They have been doing those for years.

I hope they are not going GSL, but a lot more evidence suggests they are. Such as their print and PDF sales.

Gen Con is a few weeks away. We'll find out for sure then.
