I'm looking forward to an all 4E magazine. I'll even be asking my FLGS to carry it so they can get more of my money (goodman gets plenty). As for DragonRoots, I didn't know you had 4E content now. If I ran a magazine, I'd try to print a best of every once in a while with only 4E content....but I don't run one.

Well, you could look at it like that. Or, you could look at Level Up being 32 pages of 4e content and 35 out of 70 pages of Dragon Roots being 4e content and come up with a different conclusion.

Well, even you clearly market the fact you have both, so your definitely a hybrid and Level Up is clearly 100% pure 4E. That will definitely make a difference in who buys which, or both.
Me? My system can handle either one just fine, so they are both equally useful and usable to me. Pure 4E players? I doubt there will be very many of them interested in a magazine where half of the content is aimed at 3E.

We are only in a few gaming stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Louisiana. I can’t seem to find a distributor that wants to pass on magazines. I know that KQ works with one, but I am not sure which one, only that it is not any of the ones I contacted. So mainly we are a mail order magazine.
Anyway, if you don’t happen to live in any of those states, check out our website at DRAGON ROOTS. I am offering Issue #0 in pdf format for $3 for people to check us out. Other than an interview with Andy Collins and Scott Rouse about the up coming 4e (it is a year old), there isn’t any 4e material, but you get a chance to check us out for almost nothing, you can’t beat that. If you want to check out our 4e content, you will have to pick up issue #2 or March issue, coming soon of course.
Note: we offer free pdfs of the magazine with printed purchases. For some people that is a deal breaker.

Which is weird, because back in the day I'm pretty sure Dragon magazine had support articles for more than just D&D. I remember articles for Boot Hill, Marvel Super Heroes and Twilight 2000 (I think).

I think somebody at Paizo said somewhere that they did a few surveys and looked at customer feedback and successful issues, and the D&D content was king.
I'm working from memory here, and I'm not totally clear on the details, so take it with a grain of salt.

By the time Paizo had Dragon & Dungeon mags, that would have been the analysis of Living Greyhawk and Polyhedron sections, I think. They had some interesting content, but opinions were pretty strongly all D&D, all the time.
The older TSR Dragon magazines (long before WotC) did have a fair amount of non-D&D stuff. I'm not sure when they transitioned away from that. Probably when all of their other product lines died, I'd imagine.

I know the Polyhedron material was pretty universally disliked. I was a fan, but I play numerous RPG's. Judging by how many people on WOTC and here are "4E or nothing" I am pretty sure that would reflect similarly on Dragon Roots or any other mag not purely 4E.

Yeah, Dragon used to be everything under the sun. They changed that around 200 or so.
