Got an idea for a column? Pitch it here.

Morrus

Well, that was fun

Have you got an idea for a monthly EN World column that you'd love to write and have read by thousands and thousands of gamers, both on the site, in the newsletter, and on the mobile apps? D&D, Pathfinder, or, indeed, anything else?

Pitch it here, and if I like the look of it there may be a small paid gig in it for you! Make your pitch good, though, as it'll also show your writing style and skills - even the best idea for a column won't work if it's not written well!

If you like the idea of a pitch here, please give the post XP. That'll help me gauge the popularity of some of the ideas.

Matt, I like the idea, but what kind of topics would you be addressing?

Well, anything and everything D&D. There's a ton of news now that I can play off of. Plus, as an active freelancer for both Paizo and WotC, I could provide some interesting content relating to future releases, commentary, advice, and anything related to our beloved hobby. I don't want it to be dry like a news report, so it will have it's own unique spin to it.

Are rights first publication or all rights? :)

If Morrus brings me on to do this, that's a question for him. This would be a Matt James Production sold and branded to EN World. They can do as they wish with it. Of course, it will have EN world branding all over it. In short, it's EN world's ;)

Edit: "Sold" can mean anything from monetary compensation to cold beer. Mmmmmmmmmm beeer.

I think a "month in review" or "week in review" that takes the best advice/comments/suggestions from some of the most popular threads/authors and summarizes them w/ a bit of funny/witty/germane commentary by the writer and the writer could post links back to the original stuff that is thought to be the best or most interesting to read in full.

Lets face it, it's hard to keep up with everything that goes on here and if someone is dedicated to reading through everything and giving us the best blurbs from the hottest threads that would be pretty nice. I know a lot of us can't read through ALL of the 10+ pages of hot threads when there are numerous ones out there and weed through the stuff that isn't really helpful to get to the good posts by some of the really good authors on this forum.

Just my 2 coppers.

Title: Steal This Mechanic! or Cross-Pollination

Dungeons & Dragons has given birth to so many other games, so why not take the best of these children and bring them back home? This column will examine a single mechanic from a video game, social game, indie RPG, board game, card game, and even television and movies, to port it into Dungeons & Dragons.

Can Quick Time Events be made exciting on the tabletop? What would a mini game look like in play? Can failure be made interesting in a codified way?

This column would also examine how the mechanic works in the context of the source material, as well as give a small capsule review of the source material to encourage gamer cross-pollination.

I Will Write An Adventure For You

So, we've all got way too many awesome ideas, and not enough time to do them.

That's where I come in.

Here's the deal: You post an adventure you want to have. Everyone votes on what the posts. I come in and take the thing with the most votes, and I make something usable out of it. Want an intrigue-based adventure with swashbuckling action? Want a wahoo adventure featuring SHARKS? Need a quick dungeon crawl for next week? Post your need. Get your votes. I will help you out.

This, after all, is one of the most awesome things ENWorld provides: help to DMs in need. Most of the time, it's quick one-off advice. It can be more. We can do the hard stuff for you. Let me help you make your games awesome.

I Will Write An Adventure For You.
