Got an idea for a column? Pitch it here.

worldbuilding using D20 fantasy

A column that takes a popular D20 fantasy ruleset and builds a world using the rules. The column would include tips and tricks for world building and quick locations. In addition, it would showcase using the rules and built world in an actual campaign, to test the ideas and provide better examples.

Once D&D Next debuts, the column would adapt the world being built to the new rules and examine two things. How a world can be adapted to the new rules and how the new rules actually work in a homebrew world.

Finally, anyone who wants to post ideas about what the new campaign should be about could make suggestions. The most popular suggestion would be used to create the new world.

I would be more than happy to do a monthly column on "old school" play (BECMI or 1e or even, including 2e) as this is and continues to be my game.

The second monthly column I would propose (and selfishly, the one I would prefer to write) would be an explanation/exploration of my homebrewed world of "Orea: Realms of the Steel Dragons."

I see, over and over, desires for coherent "easy-to-use" settings...which, unbeknownst to me, have been severely neglected by other fantasy game publishers. While my game is 1/2e mash-up with some 3e elements added in over the years, the basic setting is not "edition specific". Would be fun to see how it is expanded upon and used by players of various editions.

A taste of the world can be found in my Story Hour (and thank you so much for that outlet!) http://www.enworld.org/forum/story-hour/294419-steel-dragons-tales-orea.html

Good luck, Morrus, and continued success with everything!

I can't XP Mark CMG, hence this.

I think the terrain making tips, tricks, etc., could be quite usefull - especially to us who lack any real artistic ability. [sad face]

I paint a lot, especially Games Workshop minis (I have mega armies in Warhammer Fantasy). I'll add this to the mix if the Guvnor approves.

Oh, no you don't, you poacher! :D This is my separate pitch. No fair suggesting video without locking in a theme then claiming all ideas as video ideas. :D

A couple of the folks I follow on YouTube are terrainaholic and terranscapes, both of whom have great vids on terrain, as well as The Kamloopian, natch. For army painting, bluetablepainting has great ideas and also lots of variety in what you'll see on their videos. RHQ-TV always has good stuff and just started a new series on air-brushing.

I poked my head into a GW store today, Matt. Had my step-father try out the LotR Balin's Tomb demo so he could get a sense of skirmish level minis combat.

Be not sad. :D Thanks for the support!

And, honestly, if Matt wanted to do the painting vids, I don't mind a bit. :)

A couple columns I'd like to see:

Introducing younger players to RPG's
-Do's/Don'ts
-Introducing the game
-How to handle violence
-How to handle rewards
-Pacing
-Lessons learned

Using technology in TTRPG's
-What works, what doesn't
-Pitfalls and pratfalls

I'm not knowledgeable enough to write either, but if someone else wants to...
