Got any spare washers lying around? Then you, too, can be an Olympic medalist

Oy. I thought you meant washer as in 'washer and dryer.' I'd like to see someone hang one of THOSE around their neck.

Oddly enough, I actually have TWO spare washers of that sort. Neither functions properly and they are soon to be headed to the dump unless somebody at the NC Game Day wants to go all "world's strongest man" with them.

That would certainly deserve a gold medal!

Not if the event is tennis, or say, bobsledding. And I think carrying an actual washer with you during bobsledding would get you disqualified because of the extra weight. ;)

I think that I speak for the entire American public and very possibly Canada when I say that Washer Bobsledding is a sport whose time in the Olympics has come. I would PAY to watch this. Especially if the washers were not terribly well strapped into the bobsled.

And if the contestants were drunk of course.

A "washer" as in a round piece of metal hardware usually used with bolts.
Huh.

Like, the little thin circle you put around the end of the screw, but beneath the bolt, to protect the wood?

Why are they called washers? The only thing I know under the name are washing machines.

Yes, those things. Not sure why they're called washers, they just are. :)

No, silly. There would be people riding in the bobsleds too. That way someone has a chance of being seriously injured, which is a prerequisite for me to enjoy a sport. ;)
