Originally created by a druid whose forest was threatened by hordes of ravenous trolls, this creature is designed for one thing: Find trolls, kill them, and consume their green, rubbery flesh.

A trolleater looks like a multicolored dung beetle the size of a draft horse. Their carapace, which varies between orange and green, is incredibly hard and designed to withstand a troll's vicious claws. Two-foot long mandibles glisten with an oily black substance, which occasionally drops from those fearsome jaws and sizzles upon the ground.

Combat
Due to their specialized hunting habits, trolleaters pose little threat to normal adventuring parties. However, if by any circumstances any non-troll gets in the way of the trolleater's jaws and sweet, tender troll flesh, the trolleater attacks to kill, with no sense of fear-quite like trolls themselves.

Regeneration negation (Su): The oily substance on the trolleater's jaws causes a troll's (and only a troll's) regeneration ability to cease for 1d4+1 hours unless the troll succeeds at a Fortitude save (DC 20). This save must be repeated every time the trolleater successfully bites.

Immune to rending (Ex): Due to a trolleater's extremely hard carapace, they are immune to rending (not just a troll's), by any creatures Large or smaller.

Specialized scent (Ex): The trolleater has the Scent special quality, but it only applies to trolls.

Skills: Trolleater's receive a +4 racial bonus to Listen and Spot checks. A trolleater has a +6 racial bonus to Wilderness Lore checks when tracking trolls by scent.

Creating Trolleaters
Trolleaters cannot breed; they don't have the necessary equipment. They can be created by a druid of at least 15th level who has the Create Wondrous Item feat. The process creates a gray insect egg about one foot wide that hatches in 1d4+2 hours. The larva, a perfect miniature of the adult, grows to full size within a day, and immediately heads off to find trolls.

Trolleater subtypes
There exist trolleaters especially designed to hunt in specific environments, such as aquatic varieties to hunt scrags, and a pure-white arctic variety to hunt ice trolls.

Oh those poor defenseless Trolls ;) Good thing that certain creatures have a taste for insect fare... :D It's very good, and very original.
