So is this 3rd Edition AD&D ;)?

THansk for the scoop, JoeK. That's certainly a hot news item (john holds the news item like a hot potato). Gotta post that one the news site.

It'll be interesting to compare this game line TLG's 'rules light' OGL Castle and Crusade system

*moistens with anticipation* :D

Okay, seriously... These books sound great! I was hoping for more info on the other two Advanced books, but so far so good! Out of the several announced books for next year, I was worried that it would be a scarce year for me...

Hey, this seems like a nice idea. Depending on the quality those books might hold same kind of intrest as Monte Cooks AU, even though these aren't variant books, but more general ones.

Good options for the game is always good in my book. It's nice to see Skip Williams as the author of the Advanced Players book - I hear he did pretty well on a 3rd edition of some obscure fantasy rpg ;)

I'm pretty wary of 3rd party stuff, but the players book I would be likely to buy. But we'll see. Good idea from GR, in any case.

A toolkit like no other? It sounds similar to AEG's Monster Lore.
I think it will be more ground breaking that that... *sigh* Unfortunately, I can't read the second article. The navy proxy server doesn't think Green Ronin is productive...

Is that not FFG's Monstrous Lore, perhaps?

Whatever.

It'd perhaps be nice of Skip Williams worked on that one rather than the Advanced PHB.

Looks like they've got one planned for each type next year, monsters, players and GMs. All sound like a great step in the right direction.

Thanks. We're pretty excited about the Advanced Rulebooks.

I notice that Skip WIlliams is doing the one for the Player's Handbook. I wonder is that's what Fast Foward was trying to do?

No. Skip was going to "annotate" the actual PHB. So it'd be the same text, but with notes from Skip on why such and such a decision was made. As I understand it, that project is dead though.

The book Skip is writing for us is all new material.
