If one is playing a character with claws as natural weapons, do they apply as the 'unarmed damage' dealt during a grapple? I'm curious because I was under the impression that unless one was a monk, the only source of unarmed damage was the fists... and if you've got claws, your 'unarmed' attacks are claws, right?

I don't mind either way, though I am making a Lizardfolk and am debating whether it'd be worth putting a bonus into grappling.

What? Natural attacks are not unarmed attacks in that sense.

Lizardfolk can use either claw at -4 penalty (since it is a light weapon) while grapppling or unarmed damage based on size in grappling.

Alright, just was wondering is all, as I was trying to visualize how the damage was dealt. Anyways, that's all I needed to know, thanks.

Unarmed is size based damage, and only Monk's increase this over time.

Natural Weapons are armed attacks.

If you have natural weapons during a grapple you can do one of these:
1) Apply 1d3 (for Medium) damage with a grapple check.
2) Attack at -4 with your Claws.
