I was combing some threads here and on rpg.net for adventures that suited a campaign idea I had, when I saw this:

[Expedition to the Barrier Peaks] and Forbidden City are the only high level adventures I enjoy and both for the same reason- they are really easy to add to. Putting a couple more levels on the starship and using Gamma World monsters to populate them took a few hours at most. If I were to use it now, I would probably add a dozen levels and many Mutant Future critters and artifacts. It would be even more lethal but the rewards would also be much greater.

I just thought that was a great idea; take the premise of EttBP and expand it so it gets more of the attention it deserves; S3 as more of a megadungeon, with even more weird creatures pulled from Gamma World, Mutant Future, etc. Could really go crazy with it and make it into a full-fledged megadungeon, to the point of making one's setting into a mashup of D&D and Gamma World/Mutant Future. Say, a generation ship intended to carry an entire ecosystem through space to colonize a new world. The players unwittingly open a big can of whupass on their world, because now the aliens are out of cryo-stasis and want to colonize their newfound planet, Chtorran-style.

Ooh, and maybe some kind of warp gate on the ship; if the players manage to get it working, they could travel to the aliens' home planet. Maybe it's even in the same star system as the campaign world. Maybe the aliens' planet has been devastated by whatever it was that sent them out looking for a new home in the first place, and is now filled with ominous ruins, horrible monsters, and alien artifacts...

Not that this would be hard to homebrew, but I think it would make an excellent product, too.

Sounds like a fantastic product for O.L.D and N.E.W. !!

I wasn't aware of WOIN until your mention. Actually, I wasn't even sure it was a product reference until I ran a search. It's a great idea, and you're right, my OP would make a great WOIN campaign. As would the reverse, playing characters who crash-land on a primitive (fantasy) world.

But in my old age I've become the reverse of the D20-haters you see all over rpg.net; I want everything to come in D20 form. :P

I keep hearing about Of Sound Mind. It's high on my to-read list and I'm making tentative plans to find somewhere to wedge it into a campaign.
