Great news! MM2 in Monster Gift Set will be 3.5

As per this thread on WotC boards, WotC customer support apparently confirmed (via e-mail) that MM2 included in the Monster Gift Set will be updated to 3.5. I can only hope that the same will be the case with FF, and that MM3 will have incorporated errata.

Just curious... how many people that already have the books are going to buy this? Myself, I can't see buying it just to have the books updated and/or with errata.

I have MM2, but not FF (which I could never fit into my budget) or MM3 (which I didn't want to buy because it was too error-ridden for my taste). Getting all three for $56.67 (on Amazon) is a bargain, even if they were sold as-is and not updated.

Updated books would probably prompt me to actually get this, as I never bought FF or MM2. I have MM3, but would probably sell it over the prospect of getting a newer and (possibly) erratta'd edition - to address all the stat block errors.

Meh. I'm dubious about this customer support claim, but if it's true I'll buy in.
I imagine that, if it's untrue, one of the WotC people will come out and say so publicly either here or on their own boards.

I hope they're not updated to 3.5 and errata fixed...what about those of us that don't want to spend that cash just to get errata? (I had to that with Spell Compendium and it's STILL filled with mistakes)

There's the 3.5 Update Booklet that you can download on the website, but not the errata.

I would be really surprised if this was true. I think customer service has made an error.

Notwithstanding that, MMII is my least favourite monster book (bad concepts, bad designs, bad art) so I won't be buying the 3.5E version.

MM3 errata, which I am hoping for, is freely available on WotC site, as are the 3.5 updates to MM2 and FF. Please go threadcrap elsewhere.

Well, I can see why someone would be upset about the errata. It's like punishing the early adapters, but that happens with everything. I remember my first VCR was $800 bones.

Talk about pain.

Same things happening even now with Tivo, DVD recorders, HD-DVD, Bluray DVD, etc....

Want the utility now? Pay.

Want it later when it might be better? Buy latter.

No guarantees about 2nd printings with RPGs though. In many ways, I'll be very surprised if these books are indeed updated and errata'd.
