Green Ronin and Call of Cthulhu

This is actually why the D&DG with Cthulhu in it isn't really all that rare. There are a heck of a lot of them out there (probably at least 10 on ebay at any given moment). But thanks to that urban gaming legend, they sell for a lot. (Sort of a self-fulfilling thing. )

Oh...interesting! A gaming urban legend. I love urban legends.

(And this definitely explains why every long term DM I know has a copy of this version of the book--except me, of course!)

As a side note, Palladium's Fantasy RPG uses big tentacle-y 'Old Ones' as part of the back story to their world. I think they even name some of them in some of their books... So far as I know, it has never been an issue for them, either.

I would like to point out that the phrase "Call of Cthulhu" is in the public domain. Like all of H.P. Lovecraft's stories.

Now a roleplaying game called "Call of Cthulhu " is another thing, but I would imagine you could make another roleplaying game and call it something like say "The Picture in the House".

Im not sure how much of the non-Lovecraft "Mythos" material is in the public domain.

Another point I would like to make is that there is alot of grey areas will dealing with Lovecraftian copywrites. There is no doubt that the material is in the public domain, but some of the publishing houses will tell you different.
