Standing on a hill overlooking the lands of the Kirsvald is an ancient mansion, the seat of power of the Staufen family. After years of decline and creeping corruption, the once noble house has become a den of wickedness and the center of a twisted plot orchestrated by an ancient evil. Now the locals fear the Staufen name and hate the oppression that has become their lot. It is into this deadly nest that a group of brave heroes must descend to uncover and defeat the vile serpents that poison this land.

Mansion of Shadows is packed with information, including:

* A complete adventure for four or more characters of 1st through 3rd level.
* A detailed gazetteer of the region including an extensive map.
* Fantastic maps of the mansion.
* Variant scenarios for incorporating mass combat rules from the Advanced Player's Manual.
* New mechanics like the Damned feat and the Sinthrall template.
* New stat-block formats for easier play.
* Terrifying creatures drawn from The Book of Fiends like the cranial wretch and the herlekin.

Mansion of Shadows launches Green Ronin's Bleeding Edge Adventures. Designed with today's savvy gamers in mind, this adventure blends thrilling combats and exciting play environments, with the juicy roleplaying opportunities that keep bringing us back to the table. Whether you use it as a stand-alone adventure or as part of a new campaign, Mansion of Shadows takes your game to the Bleeding Edge.

Excellent! Is this going to go to RPGNow as well?

I believe Green Ronin tends to sell their books from their own onlilne store for about one week before releasing them to other retailers. That has been how they have handled their M&M products so far.

Didn't the page count go up? I remember when I first heard about it, wondering how you could fit all that Bleeding Edge stuff in 32 pages...

Yes, the page count on the first one went up to 48, but we kept the price the same.

I will most likely end up picking this up, but if anyone has already, I'm wondering what is new or different about the series. I think there are a lot of things that could be done differently in RPG adventures, but I'm wondering what has Green Ronin done with this one.

Consider me an enquiring mind.

Difference of Bleeding Edge

I was Playtest DM for this adventure. So I can answer some questions.

First and foremost, this adventure focuses on the motivations that move the dramatis personae. The BBEG is not a simple Stat Bloc for the PCs to kill but a NPC who has his own agenda. Likewise all the other important NPCs receive a good description. That gives the DM the Tools for a great roleplaying experience. I had one of the best sessions of the last years, just acting and playing many of the NPCs (that were gathered in one location).

Secondly this is an open adventure. There is of course a major hook in the beginning to get the PCs started. But if they ignore it nothing is lost. The story can still unfold. Even in the middle of the adventure, the PCs can side with the BBEG or do something completely unforeseen. Nothing is lost and the story can still unfold. Of course this requires planning and though by the DM.

Third I like that in thsi adventure the Power Level of the NPCs or the Magic Items are rather toned down. I mean there is no Milkmaid (Com lvl. 12) with a milking stool +4 and a +2 broom of sweeping. The PCs as adventurers and memorable NPCs can wipe the floor with most of the commoners, as it should be IMHO.

Fourth, the story is really good.
