From the SRD in the Monster Section, in the Types, Subtypes, and Abilities section:

Plant Type: This type comprises vegetable creatures. Note that regular plants, such as one finds growing in gardens and fields, lack Wisdom and Charisma scores (see Nonabilities, above) and are not creatures, but objects, even though they are alive.

I think the green slime, molds, and fungii all fall into the category of objects else they would have had an entry in the MM.

I did, and actually, Electric Dragon is right, IMO. It says they are treated as plants, not as monsters of the plant type. This is in the same paragraph where it mentions that only some slimes, funi, etc. are treated as monsters (and specifically references the MM).

By the RAW, I interpret that to mean that any plant capable of movement or action--i.e. one listed in the MM, or that has monster stats--doesn't qualify for mage hand. But any plant that is just a plant--such as a rose bush, or a green slime--is an object for all intents and purposes.

I'm not sure I get what you're asking. Are you saying "Why didn't WotC specifically say 'They are treated as plants, but not monsters of the plant type'?"

My guess would be, they thought it was pretty clear. Since the vast majority of plants are not monsters, it seems reasonable to assume that in any paragraph not specifically talking about monsters, any reference to "plant" means "plant," not "monster plant."

I was going to make an incredibly cogent and coherent point here, but since green slime was the one involved and has already spoken, it seems irrelevant.

So I'll settle for just asking - green slime, was it good for you too?
