Greyhawk: Skill Sets for Human Races

Ok, I'm about to start a new group in my Greyhawk campaign. We're rolling up characters (3.5) with all of the bells and whistles, tons of house rules that I've developed over the years, etc. Despite all of the changes, things still have a Greyhawk feel to them, and we definitely use (and have used) the human races for the setting.

But I want to add yet something else. What about race specific skill sets for the humans?

I'm not even sure what I want here, but I'm thinking about giving each of the races something between a +1 to +4 bonus on a variety of skills. The question is, which ones are most applicable for each of the races.

I'm interested in hearing any suggestions. The one human PC is Baklunish, so that's what I'm most interested in, short term, so we can start, but eventually I will apply these to pure race humans in the land. Mixed-race humans might have a blend of skill points.

I would think that most of these would be based on cultual norms, but if something else seems obvious, let me know.

Frankly, I'm not sure where to start!

I recommend taking a look at the D&D "Kingdoms of Kalamar" or "Forgotten Realms" setting books, which do have examples of starting packages based on human nationalities. Also, human-centric D20 worlds, such as the Black Company, Conan, and Thieves' World adaptations offer similar starting skills or feats. Finally, various D20 historical references, such as Ancients, Hamunaptra, Relics & Rituals: Excalibur, or Testament, may have customization notes for human starting characters by culture. Happy gaming!
